In the 4 years that I’ve been blogging, I’ve experimented with a few niches. I’ve tried to blog about several different topics, and at times I’ve just posted whatever I felt like. The branding I've been using for a while is "The Gadget-Geek Dad", although many of my posts have have little to do with gadgets or being a dad.
One of my favorite movie lines is from Mel Brooks "History of the World, Part 1". The scene takes part in ancient Rome. Mel's character and the two other characters (It's been a long time since I've seen it) are at the unemployment office. Mel's character walks up. The woman behind the counter asks him what he does. He replies "I'm a stand-up philosopher!" to which the woman replies "Oh, a bull****ter!" For some reason, I've always loved that line, and over the years when asked what I do, I occasionally reply "I'm a stand-up philosopher!" to see if anybody gets it.
I figured that the time has come to see if that persona works for me on my blog. If you'd rather I go back to being the "Gadget-Geek Dad", feel free to leave a comment.
