Why You Should Never Talk To The Police

This is an interesting video I stumbled across. A former defense attorney gives a lecture at a Virginia Beach law school detailing why the law students should never allow their clients to talk to the police. He turns the second half of the class over to a police officer to provide a rebuttal. The police officer agrees with him.

Since we live in a gossip society, anytime somebody takes their 5th Amendment right to remain silent, most of us assume it means they're hiding something.

And truly, it's none of our damn business. If you ever find yourself in this situation (and hopefully most of us never will), keep a few things in mind:

  • Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Nothing you say can be used to HELP you in a court of law. If you say "But I told the officer this! Please tell the judge, Officer!" The judge will declare that hearsay, and inadmissible.

  • Even if you are being totally honest, and are innocent, the slightest slip or miscommunication can be used against you. You get to babbling in a vain attempt to protect yourself, and say something just slightly off base, and it can be used against you.

  • If any evidence, no matter how shaky, appears that contradicts anything you've said, that too can be used against you.

Just take the damn 5th. Keep your mouth shut. Screw anybody who thinks you're lying. It's not their life and livelihood at stake; it's yours. To hell with the gossipers and their empty minds and empty lives.

Don't worry about the police thinking you're being rude or uncooperative. In this particular setting, they are not your friends. They can lie to you. They can put on an act. They can do what they need to get you talking. It's best if you don't. The 5th is there for a reason. Use it.

Inevitably, when I'm talking about the surveillance state, some self-described "enlightened" left-tard will pipe in with "Well, unless you have something to hide, you have nothing to worry about". Up yours, left-tard! Privacy has NOTHING to do with whether or not you have something to hide. It's idiots like that that sell out to dictators in the name of "safety" and "security".

Watch the video. This professor and the police officer explain it much better than I can. And if you ever find yourself in the situation, TAKE THE 5TH!
